Steel restraints are often extremely expensive. I try to keep my prices fair, and they’re lower than what you see in many places. However, there’s still a lot of work in them. There’s also the fact that they tend not to be adjustable, which can immediately double the cost if you’re playing with two people with different sized wrists or ankles.

In an attempt to address these issues, I’ve made these restraints using commercially available U-bolts. The adjustability means they’ll fit the vast majority of wrists, and the locknuts mean that, when set correctly, there’s no risk of overtightening them and injuring the wearer.

These are the small size. They’re made from U bolts with a 60mm opening, which will fit most wrists and smaller ankles. The nuts that close the manacles are standard M10 nuts, requiring a 17mm spanner, which is supplied with the manacles. If you’d like, you can have a socket key instead; It costs a little extra, but I didn’t want to include them as standard and push the price up unduly.

You can order these separate with individual rings, or permanently joined together with a chain. For the best of both worlds, you can order them separate and then order a connecting chain to join them when you want to.

To use the manacles:

1. Loosen the cuffs, or remove the U-bolts completely if necesary, and put the wrist through the U-bolt.

2. Slide the bar on, and adjust the upper nuts until the bar can restrain the wrists without compressing them.

3. Add the lower nuts, and do them up with a spanner or socket. They don’t need to be very tight- just tight enough that errant fingers alone cannot undo them.
